Recently I uncovered some old mix CDs I had made from way back in the Napster days and while listening I suddenly recalled that the guy who sings this song is named Jimmy Dean, could it be the same person?
Could the man who brought us Pancakes & Sausage On A Stick also be a Country Western star from back in the day?
It turns out yes.
This song was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961 and won the Grammy for Best Country & Western Record in 1962.
When I listen to this it strikes me that nobody writes songs like this anymore, in any genre, it's odd, to me at least.
