I think it heard me dissing one of its' shows. Really.
Last week I made some comments on Jen's blog about Gilmore Girls and how it has become a suck-fest.
Somehow I think the DVR in my bedroom heard them and is mad at me.
For nearly 4 years it has been recording Gilmore Girls on Tuesday nights at 8PM PST. At one point it had 75 of its' 250 hours taken up by Gilmore Girls. It has never missed an a scheduled recording of GG without me interfering and changing the record options.
Imagine my shock last night when I found out that it had decided to record an episode of Nova on at the same time, and to make it worse it was an episode of Nova I had already seen several times (Swiss Air Flight 111 Crash).
Bedroom (that's the DVR's name), if you are reading this now, I'm sorry. I said I was going to keep watching, and I mean it. I won't make anymore disparaging comments about your shows. I promise.
Can we please get things back to normal?

Uh, hello, Luke & Lorelai?!
Not to mention Jim & Pam. The Wife squeeeed (is that the right term) with excitement when it happened and when they showed it on the tele during promos.
I took this picture three weeks ago off the cover of TV Guide. WTF? Why did they potentially ruin this for everyone? Would it have been that hard to not spoil a major event on a popular TV show weeks
before it happened? At the very least they could have put a teaser on the cover and put the spoiler in an article with adequate warning for those who don't enjoy reading that sort of thing.
What TV show(s) will you be watching this season? Why?

The shows I will for sure be watching this fall
are:
Gilmore Girls
You think you've seen every episode of Gilmore Girls? Maybe you have, but I've seen them more and know them forwards backwards and sideways. I can put the show on mute and recite the dialog. People it is my obsession.
I do have to say I was pretty pissed off with last season and in May I wrote an email to The Wife and her mom about how annoyed I was. I ended it like this:
"I will continue to watch, even into next season, but I will save my baited breath for a petite blonde named Veronica."
Which brings me of course to my hero and yours,
Veronica Mars.
As I have stated to friends, if Veronica Mars gets cancelled this season there
are no guarantees that I won't storm Les Moonves' office and hold him hostage
until she is put back on the air. The Wife came home from the gym while I
was watching the second season finale and found me sitting on the edge of my
chair, mouth a gape from the events going on. I think if I would have kept my
mouth closed my head would have exploded from the pressure caused by the sheer
awesomeness that is Veronica Mars.
Last year I almost gave up on watching Prison
Break because it was just pissing me off with all the conspiracy BS. I found
the show so much more bearable to watch when I fast forwarded though the scenes
with Robin Tunney. Then, somewhere in the middle of the season it pulled me
back in and I was hooked again. This season is still kind of up in the air for
me. Can someone explain how, with the cops just hundreds of feet from them,
guns drawn, they managed to get away by running through a field between the
season finale and the season premiere?
Speaking of shows that I have almost given up on time and again, I will continue
to watch Lost this season. Best Week Ever (please don't think I watch
that show, The Wife's sister does and sometimes forces us into watching it)
said it best when they compared Lost to a bad girlfriend. You hate her and want
to leave her, but just when you are ready to break it off she pulls you back in
with some loving tenderness that melts your heart.
When it first came on TV I rejected The Office. It was too uncomfortable to watch. I think I gave it like two or three episodes. Then not even two months ago The Wife was watching some of last season on DVR while I was playing Tetris and something happened. It was funny. I loved it. I think it might have been the whole Pam & Jim thing. But I am also in awe of the awesomeness of Rainn Wilson. (Yes Dear, I admit it, The Office is funny after all. Shut up.)
Last summer I was reading Entertainment Weekly's issue about upcoming fall shows and came across a show called How I Met Your Mother. It sounded gimmicky to me but Doogie Howser was in it so I thought I would give it a chance. By the end of the pilot episode I was hooked.
Two summers ago or something like that, I was sitting at a boba shop and saw on the TV an ad for a new show called Grey Anatomy’s. I saw that Issah Washington was in it and I remember thinking to myself, I like him, I should give that show a chance. I DVRd the first half of the season without watching a single episode, then during the holidays I watched all of them. It's a good show, but I don't think it is great. I like to watch it, but I don't watch it every week. I make a habit of recording 10+ episodes then sitting down with The Wife and watching them all in order. It makes for much more compelling TV doing it that way. During the second season finale, I was glued to the TV, not wanting to get up for a drink, and I was watching it DVR.
Recently The Wife and I have been going though the fall TV preview of EW and TV Guide, picking out new shows and setting reminders to set the DVR to record them, it is too early* to tell if any of them will make the cut yet. (* Mostly. I already said goodbye to Smith and The Class, although The Wife still has faith in The Class).
Other shows we are recording are:
6°
Heroes
Ugly Betty
Studio 60
30 Rock
Friday Night Lights ( I don't anticipate watching it past the first episode)
The Knights of Prosperity
The Nine
I remarked today to my boss that someone in the office reminded me of Doyle from Gilmore Girls.
"We'll call him ScottDoyle from now on" she said. "Except, Doyle isn't is first name is it? Who would name their kid Doyle?"
"I don't know. It's a TV show, I don't think he even has a last name."
"Let's Google it."
Well, I did one better and went straight to the Gilmore Girls Entry in Wikipeida. I found his last name (McMaster in case you were interested) but then spent some time browsing around, reading character bios
and what not.
While reading the article on Paris Gellar I came across a Wiki Category that made me literally lol (would that be llol?).
Fictional Jews.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fictional_Jews
I love that someone, or some group of people spent the time to create this group and populate it with all sorts of fictional people. It's awesome.
I was even more pleased to find that the list didn't discriminate. Cartoon characters are on the list as well, including my man Dr. Zoidberg!
Oh Wikipedia, how I love you.
